Wesley Chapel is teaming up with UMCOR – United Methodist Committee on Relief to provide aid to our brothers and sisters affected by Sunday’s tornadoes in Arkansas. We are collecting donations between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the church office now through Monday, May 5. There are also bins located in the narthex for donations. Call Center for Needs & Resources
· If you are in an affected area and have a specific need, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call501.324.8045. Pastors: if you know of church families with specific needs, please use this contact to arrange for volunteers and materials. Our Call Center team will gather information and coordinate with available volunteers and materials.
What else can you do?
· First, what not to do:
o Collect only requested items; no clothing or furniture will be accepted
· Financial gifts can be:
o Donated online at arumc.org
o Mailed to Arkansas Conference, Attn: Disaster Response, P. O. Box 3611, Little Rock, AR 72203.
o Dropped off at the Conference office between the hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday– Friday.
· Three collection centers are set up to accept supplies:
o Christ UMC in Cabot has been designated as a Faulkner County Staging and Distribution Center. They are ready to accept material donations. Location: 15361 Hwy. 5 in Cabot, next to the Greystone Sonic, 9 am – 6 pm.
o Grace Conway is open 11 am – 3 pm today; 9 am – 3 pm beginning tomorrow. Location: 1075 Hogan Lane, Conway.
o Maumelle UMC will be opening later
· Needed Supplies:
o Plastic totes
o Duct tape
o Heavy sturdy boxes
o Tornado Tubs. The content list for these tubs is:
o 2 – 18 gallon tubs with lids (stack one inside the other)
o 1 can or bottle of insect repellent (for personal use) 5-8 oz.
o 1 can or bottle of spray air freshener 8-12 oz (be cautious of the name of the scent – “After the Rain,” might be lovely under other circumstances but could be upsetting in this situation)
o 1 pair of work gloves
o 1 pair of rubber gloves
o 1 package of zippered plastic gallon bags (20 count)
o 1 package of zippered plastic quart bags (30 count) (both sizes will help sort through smaller items that need to be kept together such as jewelry, paperwork, etc.)
