WESLEY CHAPEL UMC CELEBRATES WOMEN
“The Ruth and Naomi Experience: Truth, Transparency, and Triumph!”
Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church’s Annual Women’s Weekend will be held March 9-11, 2018. This year we celebrate the connections and bonds between women; our theme is based on Ruth 1:6-22.
Friday evening events will take place at the church, 1109 S. State Street, Little Rock, AR 72202 and will focus on teen girls. Eight young ladies will cap off five weeks of purity classes with “Girl Talk Unplugged,” a session with Minister Ashley Thomas of Fullness of Joy Ministries in Jonesboro, Arkansas, beginning at 6:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. the teens’ family, friends, and other supporters are invited to witness and celebrate their graduation. The evening ends with Girls’ Night Out Fun and Fellowship guided by a group of young adult women.
On Saturday, March 10, beginning at 11:00 a.m., join us for “The Ruth and Naomi Experience Red Carpet Luncheon: Celebrating Relevant, Empowered, Actionable, & Loyal (REAL) Women” at Philander Smith College’s Harry R. Kendall Science and Health Mission Center. Keynote speaker Dr. Vikki Johnson is an ordained elder, as well as a former manager of public affairs and special events at BET Network. She is also an entrepreneur, author, public speaker and radio personality. Johnson is a graduate of Howard University and Pastor of Women at Kingdom Worship Center in Towson, Maryland. Her commitment to sisterhood is evident in her affiliations with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment (NABFEME) and the Sista Girl Network. Tickets for the luncheon may be obtained for $35.00 by contacting the church office.
Two worship services on Sunday, March 11 will culminate the weekend. At 8:00 a.m. the guest preacher will be Pastor Beverly R. White of Wesley Chapel AME Church, Marvell, Arkansas. First Lady Cleo Cooper, Mt. Gale Missionary Baptist Church, will bring the message at 10:45 a.m. The Women’s Day choir will rehearse Saturday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday March 7 at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m.
We invite the metropolitan Little Rock community to join us as we rejoice in women’s God-given attributes. Elder Ronnie Miller-Yow is lead pastor of Wesley Chapel UMC, First Lady Shantella Yow is chairperson for the 2018 Women’s Weekend and Sis. Tiffany Mays O’Guinn is chair for the Red Carpet Luncheon.
